31 + buyers premium of 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl VAT) on the first £300,000 of the hammer and 10% plus VAT (12% incl VAT) thereafter Lot 623 1989 Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk2 8V Three-Door Registration: G946 ONB Chassis No.: WVWZZZ1GZKW829921 Estimate: £25,000 - £30,000 The Mk2 Golf GTi was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1983 and, like its predecessor, was well received by the press, with What Car Magazine awarding it ‘Car of The Year 1985’. Incredibly, nearly 40 years later, this stunning GTi Mk2 8V is still turning heads. Supplied new to a Mr William Hird on 15th August 1989 through Links Garage in Derbyshire, finished in Tornado Red with a grey and red interior, it can comfortably still be described as in immaculate condition throughout with the cabin featuring its original carpets, mats, steering wheel and gear knob, along with the toolkit and the VW first-aid kit still in its original cellophane wrapping. It was looked after and serviced by the supplying dealer whilst in Mr Hird’s ownership and Mr Green, a neighbour, had seen the Golf regularly, admired its super condition and expressed an interest in buying it, should it ever be for sale. However, it wasn’t until 2010 that Mr Green was able to persuade Mr Hird to sell his beloved GTi and it was then that the car started its journey of concours events and VW shows. Its third owner, Chris Burt, was a seasoned VW concours entrant and purchased this already beautiful car with the aim of taking it to the incredible level we see today. Numerous awards and concours trophies later, the Golf’s show career culminated in taking first place honours at the Stanford Hall Concours d‘Elegance in 2019 - considered to be the best in the country for Volkswagens, Audis, and Porsches. The original VW grey book pack is complete and contains all the appropriate manuals, service book and dealer literature. Two full history files containing letters, masses of invoices and old MOTs dating back to 1992 corroborate the currently indicated mileage of 27,420. This is, without doubt, the finest example of the VW marque Silverstone Auctions has ever offered and we invite you to come and marvel for yourself at this celebrated concours champion. A celebrated concours winner, simply one of the best available. More Details Lot 623 Bid On Lot 623
