174 The Classic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 Cars Lot 758 1976 Triumph Stag Mk II - Manual Overdrive •Introduced in June 1970, the Triumph Stag was conceived as a luxury convertible sportscar to rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SL and came equipped with electric windows, power-assisted rack and pinion steering and servo-backed disc/drum brakes as standard •Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell, the newcomer featured all round independent suspension (McPherson strut front/ semi-trailing arm rear) and a well laid-out 2+2 cabin. •With some 145bhp and 167lb/ft of torque available from its bespoke 2,997cc SOHC V8 engine, the model was capable of 120mph. •This impressive example was originally finished in yellow and now presents exceptionally well in Pimento Red with factory-style alloy wheels and a neatly fitting black soft top roof •Smart interior in black leathercloth with black carpets. Very tidy engine bay and underneath •Equipped with the desirable manual / overdrive transmission combination, offering a more engaging driving experience •Patently benefiting from careful ownership and ongoing maintenance, the Stag presents well throughout and appears to have been enjoyed as intended whilst retaining its original character •The current MOT is valid until June 2026 and no advisories •A well regarded British classic offering open-top touring, V8 performance and distinctive 1970s styling in one usable and increasingly collectible package Very attractively presented example of Triumph’s innovative grand tourer fitted with a manual gearbox and overdrive. Seller Rating: ««««¶ Score 101 / 135 Registration: PPC 267R Chassis No.: LD426720 Estimate: £15,000 - £18,000 Specialist: Richard Greenhalgh Telephone No: 07948 152921 Lot 757 1974 Ford Cortina Mk3 2000E Auto - Ford-Built Experimental Vehicle (TRRL) •Dating from 1974, this example was developed jointly by Ford and the Government’s Transport and Road Research Laboratory •Presenting much like a standard example externally, aside from its Avon Safety Wheels, the interior is markedly different with extensive additional padding front and rear, a distinctive cabin treatment and an early digital dashboard unusual for the period •Developed to demonstrate levels of passenger protection comparable to seatbelts through interior padding, it also features Avon Safety Wheels intended to help prevent tyre detachment •Following its time as a TRRL demonstrator, it is understood to have been saved from destruction and stored for around 30 years, later refurbished including a respray after 2011, and acquired by our vendor in 2025 when an engine overhaul was completed •The car does run and drive, although the odometer displays 17,164 miles which has remained unchanged for many years due to an intermittent fault with the electronic dashboard, however, a separate speedometer is attached by Velcro and powered via the cigarette lighter. There is a small oil leak from the automatic transmission •With six former registered keepers, last MOT valid until May 2023 and now exempt as an historic vehicle, the car is accompanied by a history file including invoices, MOT Certificates and a vehicle data sheet. It is likely to require recommissioning so trailering from the sale is recommended Developed in conjunction with the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, this unusual Ford Cortina 2000E offers a rare insight into 1970s vehicle safety research.
