The Supercar Fest Sale 2024 Cars 40 Registration: DBH 626X Chassis No.: WBAEC8204C8185083 Estimate: £25,000 - £30,000 Specialist: Richard Greenhalgh Telephone No: 07948 152921 Lot 219 1982 BMW 635 CSi (E24) - 27,000 miles BMW’s E24 6-Series is regarded as one of the best German high-performance coupés of the late 20th century, an elegantly styled, extremely rapid Grand Tourer powered by the Bavarian marque’s superb range of straight-sixes. Initially launched in 1976 in either carburetted 630CS form or with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel-injection (as the 633CSi), the definitive E24 for most people was the 635CSi announced two years later, with an appreciable power boost from its 3.5-litre engine. Sporting a discreet front air dam and boot lid spoiler, the 635CSi was available with a 5-speed gearbox for the first time, although most customers opted for the refined ZF automatic, making manual cars something of a rarity these days. The beautifully appointed cabin could accommodate four adults in genuine comfort whilst the cockpit-style dashboard layout and instrument panel set the standard for generations of future BMWs. A new feature was the Check Control System, monitoring light bulbs, fluid levels and brake pads - commonplace on today’s luxury cars but a real innovation at the time. On offer here is an original, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, post-facelift 635CSi with the revised exterior and interior styling and upgraded chassis, suspension and electronics. It’s powered by BMW’s sonorous 215bhp M30 straight-six with a smooth 4-speed automatic gearbox and is superbly presented in Polaris Silver with a blue cloth interior in excellent condition. It was first registered on 1st July 1982 and has been with its current owner for seven years. At the time of cataloguing, the indicated mileage was just 26,818 and this is supported by a large history file with extensive historic paperwork including invoices since our vendor’s purchase in 2017. Included in the file is a letter (12th September 2007) from Munich Legends stating that this ‘1982 facelift model is a truly exceptional example’ and that ‘finding such a car at any price would be extremely difficult’. The current MOT is valid until February 2025 and was issued with ‘No Advisories’. Epitomising style and mechanical prowess when they arrived on the motoring scene in 1976, these beautiful coupés will always stand the test of time with the ability to ‘wow’ anywhere. Very sensibly estimated, we invite and encourage your inspection of this classic BMW. Super smooth straight-six ‘Sharknose’ 635 CSi with just 27,000 miles from new and in superb condition.
