+ buyer’s premium of 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl VAT) on the first £300,000 of the hammer and 10% plus VAT (12% incl VAT) thereafter 31 Registration: TBA Chassis No.: 1G1YY2258T5600913 Estimate: £23,000 - £29,000 Specialist: Charles Smalley Telephone No: 07421 007866 Lot 210 1996 Chevrolet Corvette C4 Grand Sport Coupe Introduced in 1984, after a one year model hiatus, the fourth-generation (C4) Corvette modernised Chevrolet’s halo model, dragging it out of the regulation and emission-choked doldrums and boasting many new electronic features including a digital dashboard. The C4 would carry Chevrolet through the 1980s and early 1990s with highlights including the ‘One-Millionth’ Corvette and the introduction of the ZR-1, which took the Corvette. For the first time in many years, back to the top of the muscle-car performance pile. For its final year of production in 1996, Chevrolet introduced a special model to help the C4 go out with a bang prior to the introduction of the new-for-1997 C5. Named ‘Grand Sport’ in honour of the five lightweight Corvette racers that Zora Arkus Duntov designed in 1963 prior to Chevrolet’s official exit from motorsport, the C4’s swansong was a limited-edition of 1,000 cars. All were painted a distinctive Admiral Blue Metallic with a wide Arctic White centre stripe and a pair of red hash stripes over the left front wheel, with motivation being provided by a ‘one-year- only’ 330bhp 5.7-litre LT4 V8 paired to the desirable 6-speed manual transmission. This superb example was sourced directly from the US by its present and fanatical owner who looked long and hard before securing this low-mileage (less than 14,000 at the time of viewing) example with it being one of just 810 Coupés (just one of 217 with the Torch Red interior and one of only 91 with the desirable F45 suspension). It’s in immaculate and original condition throughout with the only addition to standard being Corsa rear exhaust boxes. Complete with a comprehensive service history, all books, an original sales brochure and advertising poster and, unbelievably, the original build sticker is still in place attached to the fuel tank. This rare Corvette would be a welcome addition to any American car Collector’s stable, an opportunity not to be missed. NB. The registration number depicted in our images does not form part of the sale. The 1996 ‘Grand Sport’ was the ultimate development of the fourth generation of Chevrolet’s legendary Corvette.
