THE SHUTTLEWORTH SPRING MOTORCYCLE SALE 7th April 2024

+ buyer’s premium of 15% plus VAT (18% incl VAT) 79 Ultra-rare Kawasaki Z1. Pre-production press bike originally destined for Norway and one of only five survivors world-wide (#90009). • Kawasaki’s answer to the CB750 launched in 1972 and quickly became an instant classic • Twin overhead camshafts and a top speed of 130mph • This 1972 pre-production Press bike is one of c.15 produced for the worldwide launch of the Z1 • It was number nine off the production line and was shipped to Norway in late 1972 by importer Ter-Rek AS • Test ridden by invited journalists and seen by many whilst on display at the Ter-Rek offices in Trondheim • Unfortunately, due to the oil crisis in 1973, the 50 bikes ordered for Norway failed to arrive and the importer went out of business • Number nine was never returned to Japan, unlike its siblings which returned home to be crushed, escaping Kawasaki’s instructions, and was registered new in Norway in 1973 • We believe only five of the press bikes escaped to survive to this day and most are in museums • Its previous owner, Norwegian Kawasaki enthusiast Johan Morstein, researched and sourced as many of the original parts as possible. The bike was then restored in the UK by Mike Hunnisett to a very high standard and is presented in good running order • Numbers are correct but we believe it has replaced crank cases, still on its original wheels, correct seat, dials and showing just over 160 miles since its restoration • Complete with a copy of the Z1 Owners Club of Norway (February 1999 edition) highlighting the history of the bike and a list of all the owners since 1974 • Imported into the UK with taxes paid and on the NOVA system • An incredible opportunity to own one of the rarest Kawasaki Z1 models known to exist Lot 833 1972 Kawasaki Z1 903cc - Press Bike #90009 Estimate: £30,000 - £40,000 Registration: NOVA Frame No: Z1F 90009 Engine No: Z1E 90009 Specialist: Mark Bryan Telephone No: 07958 107974 More Details Lot 833 Bid On Lot 833
