The NEC Classic Motor Show Sale 2023 Cars 30 Registration: 499 KBH Chassis No.: 824762 Estimate: £50,000 - £70,000 Specialist: Rob Hubbard Telephone No: 07775 511825 Lot 123 1959 Jaguar XK150 3.4-Litre SE Coupé Introduced in the spring of 1957, the XK150 was available, at first, only in fixed and drophead coupé forms, with the open roadster version not appearing until the following year. At 190bhp, the engine’s maximum power output was identical to that of the XK140 so performance was little changed. ‘Special Equipment’ and ‘S’ versions came with 210 and 250bhp respectively. Overdrive and a Borg-Warner automatic gearbox were the transmission options, the latter becoming an increasingly popular choice, while a Thornton Powr-Lok limited-slip differential was available for the XK150S. Steel wheels remained the standard fitting, though XK150s so equipped are a great rarity, as most were sold in SE (Special Equipment) specification with centre-lock wire wheels. The much-admired chromed Jaguar mascot was made available as an optional extra on an XK for the first time. This delightful 3.4-litre XK150 Special Equipment was supplied by Henlys in early 1959 and is an original UK, right-hand drive car fitted from new with a manual gearbox with overdrive. It remains matching numbers as confirmed by its Heritage Certificate. It’s finished in Indigo Blue with a classic Biscuit leather interior and currently sits on a set of new painted 16”x6” wire wheels. It benefits from a stainless steel sports exhaust, electronic ignition, comprehensive sound proofing, and we understand that the engine was rebuilt around 3,000 miles ago. Our vendor notes that the XK is ‘mechanically perfect and driving beautifully. The paint is older but has a lovely patina with a high-gloss finish. The upholstery is in good condition and the carpets are good with some wear. The gearbox, overdrive and diff are all good and quiet’. It’s accompanied by the usual manuals, correspondence, its V5C and the current MOT which is valid until August 2024. A genuine, UK-supplied, 3.4-litre 150 Special Equipment with a Heritage Certificate and looking rather handsome in Indigo Blue. More Details Lot 123 Bid On Lot 123
