The NEC Classic Motor Show Sale 2023 Cars 120 Registration: H781 LJO Chassis No.: WF0FXXGBBFLU59631 Estimate: £60,000 - £65,000 Specialist: Matthew Roberts Telephone No: 07745 048819 Lot 200 1991 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth Sapphire 304 Rouse 4x4 Encountering a vehicle like this is an extraordinary rarity - the Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth Rouse Sport 304 R, specifically this one, Number #55 of the limited production run of 100 by Rouse Sport, of which only 78 were ultimately finished. When it was originally available, this Rouse Sport RS Cosworth with its potent 260bhp outshone any standard Sierra in terms of speed, and it was an even scarcer breed. It was a creation of the engineers behind the formidable BTCC racing team, led by the legendary figure of the sport, Andy Rouse. These cars were assembled alongside the competition RS500s at the Coventry factory, explaining the scarcity and the engineering excellence that lies within this remarkable vehicle. This particular car, #55, is one of the most sought after 304Rs in the line up, known for its four-wheel drive configuration. It’s finished in striking Moonstone Blue with a black leather interior, and is distinguished by its unique body styling, encompassing extended sill panels, a front splitter and a lower rear valance. These elements not only enhance its aerodynamics but also give it a more imposing presence. Coupled with the prominent Rouse badging, this car stands out from the standard Sierra Sapphire Cosworth of the era. The accompanying paperwork is a treasure trove, including the original hand-written order form, prepared for its first owner, a Mr Martin from Barnett. The invoice reveals a retail price of £23,873.75, along with a separate invoice for £6,036.25 for the Rouse Sport conversion, leather upholstery and a personalised license plate. These invoices are sourced from the supplying dealer, Godfrey Davis in St. Albans. It’s been with its current owner since 2019, whilst the two previous owners collectively cherished it for 28 years, maintaining it to the highest standard possible. The current indicated mileage is 19,620 with a full service history and recent enhancements include a cam belt change and extensive detailing of the original paint work. H781 LJO isn’t just any performance Ford; it’s a car that demands attention and might very well be the finest Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth Rouse Sport 304R available in the market today, if not the rarest with its exceptional original condition, history and low-mileage. One of only 78 of these rather special RS Cosworths enhanced in period by the legendary Andy Rouse. Just 19,600 miles, a full service history and superbly presented.
