It was supplied to the UK new and delivered to its first owner in August 1996 through Mercedes-Benz dealer JR Tagger Ltd. specified in (189) green-black metallic with a grey leather interior, black hood and colour-coded factory hard-top. The first owner kept the SL in superb condition and correctly maintained for 10 years before passing ownership to our vendor. This example was carefully selected by our vendor as a one-owner, six-cylinder model, in a rare colourway and in superb condition to become part of his private collection alongside other low mileage, low ownership landmark classic cars. Since his purchase in 2007, the SL has been enjoyed occasionally, always dry stored correctly in a temperature and humidity-controlled storage facility and maintained correctly. Its current condition can only be described as excellent inside and out, the green-black metallic paintwork is virtually flawless, the interior cabin space feels clean and shows very little wear, the hood is in excellent condition, the factory hard-top is also near perfect with an excellent head-lining and the original wheels also present extremely well. On test the car fired up sounding healthy and sporty, there appears to be a sports exhaust fitted and performed beautifully. It’s accompanied by a history file containing the original book-pack with the service book stamped up-to-date. There are 11 stamps in the book mostly from Mercedes garages with a couple from specialists and the most recent entry is from Mercedes-Benz in March 2022 at 18,181 miles. Also within the file is the spare key, old MOTs corroborating the low mileage, supporting invoices and a current V5C ready for transfer or export. This is a great opportunity to acquire a low mileage, low ownership, stylish R129 roadster, a model that’s fast becoming a modern classic perfectly blending the high-quality finish for which MB were known in the 90s with lots of modern tech for easy occasional use.
