Designed by Paul Bracq and sketched by Freiderich Geiger, it offered elegant simplicity within its compact proportions •Powered by a 2,306cc straight-six engine offering 150bhp and 145lb/ft of torque mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox •Imported by our vendor in 2021, this is a US spec, ex-California, left- hand drive, W113 Pagoda originally finished in Papyrus White with a contrasting black hardtop and smart black leatherette interior •Our vendor’s intention was just to hone its appearance and driving characteristics but he got a little carried away and it became a full refurbishment with a substantial investment •The project was taken on by specialist restorer Ed Watson & Co of Atherstone and the work included a professional respray in its original colours and a full cosmetic refurbishment including all the relevant clips, brackets, seals, fixings etc. (invoices on file) •Further attention included a full engine service, braking system overhaul, reconditioned starter motor, suspension overhaul, new soft top, interior woodwork and a full set of Blockley radial tyres •The respray and parts alone total in excess of £11,000 as well as countless hours to make it all happen, we can easily imagine a lot more has been invested, however, the results are certainly impressive •The history folder includes various invoices from it’s time in America, and a ‘Type 230SL Catalog’ (a handbook in effect), and all the invoices from the car’s UK restoration Ex-California, left-hand drive, 2.3-litre Pagoda fresh from a significant refurb and now beautifully presented.
