The Iconic & Classic Sale at The NEC Classic Motor Show 2025

162 The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 Cars There are very few cars that can earn world renowned nicknames due to their automotive prowess. To cite a few, we have RUF’s ‘Yellowbird’, Mercedes’ ‘Hammer’ and Porsche’s ‘Widowmaker’, but arguably the best and most iconic automotive nickname in history was given to the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R, rightfully nicknamed ‘Godzilla’. The 1992 example offered here is exceptional. Restored, carefully upgraded, and prepared to an OEM+ standard. The restoration was carried out by the owner and his team within his own body shop and garage, with all engine work and tuning entrusted to Abbey Motorsport, one of the UK’s foremost GT-R specialists. Originally finished in Gunmetal Grey, it has been professionally resprayed in Skyline Blue, a genuine factory Skyline shade but seldom seen. The quality of the finish is outstanding, and the V5C has been updated to reflect the new colour. The bodywork presents superbly throughout, with clean arches, sills, and underbody showing no signs of corrosion, a testament to the care taken during its rebuild. Under the bonnet lies the legendary RB26DETT, rebuilt by Abbey Motorsport with bills of over £6,500. The focus was a reliable, authentic, and OEM-feeling powertrain, producing comfortably over 300bhp on Abbey’s dyno, with full documentation included. Complementing the build are Abbey-upgraded turbos, HKS turbo piping, and a Tomei full titanium exhaust that significantly reduces weight and adds a crisper tone. Under the bonnet there are ultra-rare NISMO components including a coilpack cover and front strut brace. The factory GT-R seats are in good order, the carpets and door cards are excellent throughout, and a new leather steering wheel subtly refreshes the cabin. The VeilSide 340kph custom gauge cluster is another ultra-rare period touch, and the car retains both its original Carrozzeria CD/MD head unit and an additional Sony unit, with all factory features including the digital climate control functioning correctly. Externally, the car sits on lightweight Enkei RPF1 alloys with red anodised wheel nuts, perfectly complementing the Skyline Blue paintwork. It is accompanied by a comprehensive document folder containing the V5C, service details, receipts, and a full dyno graph set from Abbey Motorsport. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this R32 represents a lovely blend of originality, tasteful enhancement, and expert mechanical preparation. With its rare colour, detailed Abbey Motorsport provenance, and rust-free bodywork, it stands as one of the most complete and useable examples of Nissan’s all-conquering legend available today. A fully restored, OEM+ iteration of the original ‘Godzilla’, finished in striking Skyline Blue.
