284 The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2024 Motorcycles • James had begun concentrating on the manufacture of two-stroke powered lightweights in the 1930s • Its first post-war models were the ML, a 122cc Villiers-engined machine derived from a successful military design and an autocycle •Autocycles were immensely popular in the years immediately following WWII, offering the prospect of affordable two-wheeled transport in a period of severe austerity • The James Superlux autocycle was produced between 1950 and 1953 and was powered by a 98cc Villiers 2F Junior de Luxe engine enclosed by pressed-steel panels • From the attached Tax Disc, it appears to have last been on the road in 1990 • In unrestored condition, some recommissioning will be required.
