These final cars were the most flexible and usable of Butzi Porsche’s original design. Launched in 1984 and reviving the ‘Carrera’ name for the first time since 1977, these were the ultimate 1980s sports cars. The all-alloy flat-six engine, which had been fuel-injected since 1971, received a final stretch to 3,164cc, giving a torque-rich 231bhp - enough to propel the lithe and slippery model to over 150mph, with 0-60 coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 Carreras feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche’s legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long lasting. The fabulous 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet on offer here was originally supplied by Glasgow Porsche dealer Glen Henderson Motors Ltd on 9th June 1986 and optioned with electric Sport seats, full leather interior, electric hood, metallic paint, passengers door mirror, tinted screen and over-mats. Although it’s been enjoyed by a number of owners over the years, they all appear to have been enthusiastic in their care of the 911 as the car’s history can only be described as extensive. The original service records remain with the car and have been stamped no less than 27 times (the majority appear to be at Porsche dealers, with a few at respected specialists), the most recent being listed as Autofarm on 19th July 2023 at 103,102 miles (the current indicated mileage is 103,584). In addition, from the history file, the records show it was also serviced by Specialist Vehicle Preparations on 25th August 2010 and at the same time the gearbox was rebuilt, a new clutch fitted, new oil pipes and several small jobs carried out, with a resulting invoice for £4,244.15. However, this little 911’s life was transformed in October 2013 when Tower Porsche fitted an all-steel SuperSport/turbo body conversion, new inner and outer sills, new jacking points, new B-posts and kidney bowls. They then carried out a full ‘back to the metal’ re-paint and fitted all new body seals etc. with the account totalling some £26,080. Refinished in Iris Blue Metallic (L33P) with ivory leather piped in navy blue, a new navy blue soft top and black-centred Fuchs alloys, the result was fantastic. Further expenditure over the following years included a new starter motor, new fan and pulley, drivers window regulator, new oil cooler and pipes, new master cylinder, alternator and new wheels with ContiSport tyres. Invoices within the file for this work total £8,366. The Porsche was purchased by our vendor in 2020 just prior to the onset of the pandemic and has only been used occasionally in recent years. During his ownership, it’s been fitted with a Porsche Classic Head Unit, with Bluetooth and SatNav and a smaller Momo ‘Prototipo’ steering wheel to make access easier as he is quite tall (the original wheel remains with the car). Prior to our sale, the car is going to Autofarm for a health check offering peace of mind for it’s next owner, particularly as it was last serviced less than 500 miles ago and 1,000 miles before that as detailed in the service records. This is a very attractive example of a classic 1980s 911 in a gorgeous colour combination with the all the exterior dramatics of the legendary 930 Turbo, but without the mechanical complexities. We invite and encourage your inspection to appreciate the quality on offer. Simply superb example of the ubiquitous Carrera Cabriolet with an all steel SuperSport/turbo body conversion (M491) in Iris Blue Metallic. More Details Lot 353 Bid On Lot 353
