The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 23rd - 25th August 2024
The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2024 Collectors’ Cars 48 Registration: 690 LTT Chassis No.: 850508 Estimate: £90,000 - £120,000 Specialist: Gary Dunne Telephone No: 07740 946796 Lot 352 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-Litre Roadster The glorious Jaguar E-Type on offer here is an early 1962 3.8-litre Series I Roadster that was supplied to its first owner, a Mr Goddard, who obviously loved it as he kept it for 32 years until 2000. It has since changed hands a handful of times before being acquired by our vendor around 11 years ago. Prior to that, it had been comprehensively restored by one of the owners, post-Mr Goddard, with photographic evidence in the extensive history file. Prepared to a show standard, it won the Jaguar Day, Concours d’Elegance at the North West’s Tatton Park event on its first outing. Having purchased the Jaguar in c.2013, our vendor planned to export it to Australia, where he lived some of the time, until he was confronted with the punitive tax burden associated with importing the car. The decision was then taken to leave it here, professionally stored in a Carcoon, for his frequent visits home to the UK. However, he felt that it was worth investing further in the car and tasked specialists, E-Type UK Ltd, with sympathetically bringing the car up to modern standards as much as possible. The original gearbox has been converted to a 5-speed unit, electro-mechanical power steering is fitted and the stereo, once upgraded to a CD player which still accompanies the car, is now a more modern digital equivalent, again in keeping with the car, but more ‘2024’. The headlights have been upgraded to LED, so too the map reading light, perhaps a leap too far for some but certainly in line with the desire to be a usable classic. The list of mechanical works are too extensive to list here but be assured that the car has been almost taken apart and rebuilt, restored and replaced, whatever was necessary, so that as well as looking stunning, this is now a ‘turn key’ classic. Our vendor, aware that the extensive costs of this work, details of which are all on file, at over £40,000, was unlikely ever to be returned, however an opportunity not to be missed has arisen that means he has chosen to offer this stunning Jaguar to the market at, what would appear to be, a seriously inviting guide price. Accompanied by its Heritage Certificate and a substantial history file, this matching numbers, subtly upgraded, Carmen Red, Series I Roadster on chrome wires seems, quite frankly, irresistible. You’re only young once. A stunning 3.8-litre Series I Roadster in Carmen Red with red leather and some subtle upgrades. More Details Lot 352 Bid On Lot 352
