215 + buyer’s premium of 15% plus VAT (18% incl VAT) Lot 523 1960 Norton Model 30 Manx 500cc •One of the most famous racing motorcycles of all time and named after the Manx Grand Prix • Launched initially in 1939 as an ‘over the counter’ race bike in either 350cc or 500cc spec and in production until the end of 1962 •Developed continuously throughout its lifetime with the additions of double overhead camshaft engines and featherbed frames • This 1960 built machine is presented in very good overall condition •Recent engine rebuild and in running order but will require some running in •Unknown history up until 1964 when it was raced in the UK and Manx GP between 1964 and 1967 by David Menzies • Engine was then tuned by Ray Petty, David raced it in the 1968 Isle of Man Senior TT and ultimately retired from the race • Fitted with a Ray Petty 4-speed gearbox stamped MX 1185 •Complete with a comprehensive history file containing previous owners details, restoration photos, engine details and other associated paperwork • The bike was prepared for Damon Hill to use at a Goodwood Festival of Speed but unfortunately never raced •Great example of this iconic race bike with TT history Restored Manx Norton with good TT provenance.
