The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2024 Collectors’ Cars 200 Registration: RA06 LLD Chassis No.: WPOZZZ98Z6U777797 Estimate: £28,000 - £34,000 Specialist: Charles Smalley Telephone No: 07421 007866 Lot 486 2006 Porsche Cayman 3.7 S by Autofarm Some years ago, Oxfordshire-based Porsche Specialists, Autofarm, developed a tuning programme for the Cayman that would make the most of the favourable weight distribution for which the model was known. Their in-house demonstrator became the ‘guinea pig’, benefiting from their renowned knowledge and expertise and resulting in this particular track-day focused Cayman that would give GT3 drivers a nervous twitch from constantly looking in their rear view mirror. The development programme was aimed at the standard 3.4 S but, as you would expect, to exploit exposure and marketing potential, their own example benefitted from the fitting of an Autofarm Silsleeve 3.7 upgraded with Capricorn pistons, Schrik sport cams and an IPD Plenum giving power readings that were virtually identical to a 997 GT3. The car’s transformation was further aided by some serious weight reduction with the front bonnet and rear hatch being made in carbon fibre with the latter incorporating a polycarbonate rear screen. Although the Cayman is renowned for its balance and handling, Autofarm took this example to another level with lightweight alloy wheels, uprated suspension and anti-roll bars, enhanced braking and the all important Quaife limited-slip differential. The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file including a full mechanical specification breakdown (available upon request), numerous Autofarm and RPM Specialist Cars invoices, magazine features and articles and various other pieces of relevant paperwork. Correctly road-registered and complete with a current V5C registration document, this is a very fast road/track day car that you can drive to the circuit, uncork its potential, and embarrass many of the other attendees. Now ready for its next custodian who can experience the full potential that could have been on offer but was not available in a standard Cayman at the time. Presented in gleaming black with black leather and carpets, this really is a very impressive Porsche. Featured in Evo magazine with the headline ‘Autofarm create the Cayman that Porsche daren’t’.
