The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2024 Competition Cars 16 Registration: N/A Chassis No.: VA3353/LDL0 Estimate: £40,000 - £50,000 Specialist: Lionel Abbott Telephone No: 07831 574381 Lot 308 1973 Triumph Dolomite Sprint The factory Heritage Certificate shows that this Dolomite Sprint was the Brussels Motor Show Car in 1974 for British Leyland Belgium and was finished in Mimosa Yellow with a black interior. In 1974, it became part of the Team Butch Dolomites three-car effort entered for that year’s Spa 24 Hour. They were all prepared in Britain by Broadspeed and sponsored by ‘Butch’, a Belgium clothing company. All three cars were identical specification to Broadspeed’s works Group 1.5 cars as raced in Britain but with longer final drives for the downhill section after the Masta Kink where they were pulling around 146mph. Tony Dron and Andy Rouse finished fifth overall in their example, car number 48. Car number 47 here was driven by Handley/Vernaeve/Stalpaert and is recorded as a DNF. An interesting statistic was that in attendance were 176,000 spectators which showed the attraction of saloon car racing in the 1970s. For 1975, it was entered by Team Butch for drivers Beckers/Birrell/Hoefner finishing a very credible 24th overall and eighth in class. Since then the Sprint has been entered at Goodwood and is a firm favourite with its period livery. It had FIA papers (now expired) and would be welcome at many Blue Riband saloon car events throughout Europe. On the button, sharply prepared and offering a budget-level entry to some great events. Classic ‘Dolly Sprint’ racer, well prepared and presented, sensibly guided and welcome anywhere. More Details Lot 308 Bid On Lot 308
