The flagship models of the range were the mighty AMG models from the wizards at Affalterbach in the form of the V8-powered SL55 AMG and V12 Bi-Turbo SL65 AMG. Both models offered tremendous performance and equally exceptional road holding and ride quality thanks to their advanced ‘ABC’ suspension system. The facelifted SL63 was launched in 2009 and replaced the previous SL55 model, the supercharged 5.5-litre V8 of the former model making way for the M156 normally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 as seen in the S63 model. As to be expected with any new AMG SL, the SL63 offered exceptional performance from its 518bhp V8 with 465 lb/ft torque mated to an all-new MCT 7-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shift. This striking SL63 AMG was ordered new from Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham in special-order Topaz Blue Metallic with ‘exclusive’ Nappa leather in Sand, comfort ventilated seats, AMG floor mats and Burr Walnut trim, costing a grand total of £105,615.42. First registered on 6th June 2010, the SL63 has been cherished in the hands of just four owners over the past 14 years and has clearly been lovingly maintained and garaged as the car presents in superb overall condition, both inside and out. It’s supplied with a well documented service history file that shows the car has been regularly serviced despite its relatively low mileage in any given year. In addition to the rare and desirable original specification, the SL sits on a set of SL65 AMG split-rim wheels which are also in excellent condition. This SL represents an opportunity to acquire one of the last ‘big block’ AMG SL muscle cars in a rarely seen and very tasteful original specification. The car drives and performs exactly as it should with an addictive and menacing soundtrack, bags of character and superb performance with surprising practicality thanks to its folding metal roof and generous boot space. Having grown up with a Ferrari Daytona, our enthusiast vendor has always loved a V12, yet his Aston Martin V8 Volante has taken precedence on recent sunny days and with a Rapide as a daily driver, this car vies for attention. Presented to auction with an odometer reading of some 49,000 miles, the history file includes the V5C, a current MOT Certificate valid until November 2025, both keys and a comprehensive service record. The SL has just received a ‘B’ service in July, new pulsation damper and ABC flush (Rodeo) and is ready for immediate enjoyment by its new lucky new custodian. A very smart example of the facelifted SL63 AMG in a special order colour with a superb service history file. More Details Lot 437 Bid On Lot 437
