The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 23rd - 25th August 2024

WELCOME It gives us both great pleasure to welcome you to our Iconic Sale at the Silverstone Festival. This is the jewel in our auction calendar where over the years many an auction record has been achieved. This is our 14th year as the official auction partner to the Silverstone Festival and we are thrilled to maintain such a strong association with the event and Silverstone. Our home for the weekend is Halls 1 and 2 in The Wing building where over 450 lots will be on display for you to enjoy. This year there will be a Competition Car Sale on Friday 23rd, followed by a Collectors’ Car Sale on Saturday 24th; the Motorcycle and Automobilia Sales round out the weekend on Sunday 25th August. We present to you within this catalogue an exceptional range of items for auction with quality very much the emphasis. There are some truly iconic items from race winning competition cars to rare and desirable homologation specials; from Moto GP bikes to Monkey bikes; from Aryton Senna’s artworks to Stirling Moss’ Herbert Johnson helmet – we truly have it all in this fabulous auction. Here are a few highlights to whet your appetite; in Friday’s Competition Car Sale the BMW CSL Batmobile quite possibly one of the very best we have ever offered, the unique Simpson-Ferrari, built for FIA GT1 and used with success in period; Group B rally legend C99 KOG the 1986 MG Metro 6R4 Works car and touring car royalty, the ex-John Cleland 1995 Vauxhall Cavalier; plus a host of other tin top racers, tarmac rally warriors and sport racing cars. The Collectors’ Car Sale on Saturday is one of the best selections we have offered. We have an amazing collection of Japanese Domestic Market cars, Fords from delivery mileage Focuses to a concours restored RS2000; Jeremy Clarkson’s Escort to Henry Ford Junior’s Escort. The Motorcycle Sale on Sunday features everything from a vintage AJS M7 through to a brace of Ducati Desmosedicis, both ex-MotoGP contenders. Interesting and sought after a RC30 red wing full power example, a limited edition MV Agusta Superveloce Ago LE, and a delivery mileage Ducati Panigale would make a serious dream garage. Motoring collectibles, artworks, watches and registration numbers follow the Motorcycle Sale on Sunday.
