THE ICONIC SALE AT RACE RETRO 22nd February 2025
30 The Iconic Sale at Race Retro 2025 Cars Jim Graham was an incredibly dedicated Jaguar enthusiast; his Jaguar story started in 1963 when he applied for an apprenticeship at Jaguar, and started work at Browns Lane in that September. He was then offered a job in the PR/ exhibitions department, overseeing quality control and checking that Jaguar were loaning out the best of the best to motoring correspondents for road tests and evaluation. This work included driving JDU 877E, a Yellow Series I½ E-Type, out to Vallelunga Circuit. In 1968, the XJ6 burst onto the scene and Jim drove to various locations for press and brochure photographs. Jim took MWK 28G, another early XJ6 2.8-litre, to France and Spain with Telegraph photographer, Graham Findlayson. He was very much involved with the new XJ12 in 1972 and drove with four others out to Switzerland. He conducted high speed tests with the V12 E-Type in Belgium, was involved with the PR of the Radford factory and ended his career at Jaguar in the mid-1970s. He went and worked for Northern Ireland’s DeLorean for a short time and then eventually set up a computer company called Words. He and his then wife, Penny Woodley, became involved with ‘Group C’ historic race promotion and competed in their own Group C Porsche. Jim competed actively in his E-Type and Z28, more often at the front of the pack; and also enjoyed hillclimbing at Shelsley Walsh. Jim sadly passed in 2024, but his story lives on, having been such an influential and significant part of Jaguar’s story. We are delighted to be offering his prized collection of motor cars for public sale, his two road Porsches lots 625 and 626 follow in the Collectors’ Car Auction. The Jim Graham Collection
