THE ICONIC & CLASSIC SALES AT NEC 14th & 15th November 2026

144 The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 Cars In 1978, Porsche substantially developed the 930 and created what many regard as the definitive early Turbo. Engine capacity was increased to a 3.3-Litre and crucially, an air-to-air intercooler was introduced beneath the enlarged ‘tea tray’ rear spoiler. Power rose to 300bhp, with 304lb/ft of torque, whilst braking was considerably improved with technology derived from the 917 racing programme. Despite retaining its famously long-legged four-speed manual gearbox, the new 3.3-litre Turbo was capable of 0-60mph in around 5 seconds, 100mph in approximately 12 seconds and a top speed of over 160mph. These were extraordinary figures in the late 1970s and cemented the 930’s reputation as one of the defining performance cars of its generation, especially with its notorious turbo- lag power delivery. Offered here is a right-hand drive, UK-supplied, C16, 3.3-litre, four-speed manual gearbox example that’s finished in Schwarz Black (700) with a black leather interior. FVX 911T remains a matching numbers example, retaining it’s original engine and G15 four-speed gearbox. It was delivered new to its first owner on the 01/10/1978 and has covered c.78,000 miles since then according to the odometer reading at the time of cataloguing and past MOTs. The car’s history file contains details of servicing and maintenance over the years with the accompanying service book containing around 20 stamps, with documented servicing extending from his acquisition in 1994 until approximately 2005, after which it is understood that he increasingly maintained the Porsche himself. The previous owner acquired the Porsche in 1994 and retained it for 32 years. An engineer by profession, he knew his way around the car and maintained it accordingly. Following his passing around 2020, the 930 remained untouched in his garage in the care of his widow. Importantly, rather than embarking upon an unnecessary restoration, our vendor recognised that the car simply required careful recommissioning. A comprehensive service was carried out using genuine Porsche parts, with approximately £600 spent directly with Porsche and the corresponding parts invoice retained within the history file. The car was thoroughly detailed and benefits from sympathetic cosmetic paintwork where required, bringing it back up to a very good standard. Now recommissioned, serviced using genuine Porsche parts and cosmetically refreshed where required, it presents as a highly appealing example of one of the most recognisable and important performance cars of the 1970s with the only notable modification being the larger twin-exit exhaust. Having covered just 8,000 miles since 2006, this 930 has undoubtedly been looked after, and represents a wonderful opportunity to own a highly useable example of one of these iconic German coupés. With the market for these cars continuing to gain strength, we are delighted to offer this classic supercar that could well prove to be a rather shrewd purchase. Cars don’t look much more sinister than a Schwarz Black over black leather 930 Turbo, as is evident in this well presented example, recently recommissioned following six years in dry storage.
