THE ICONIC & CLASSIC SALE AT SUPERCAR FEST 16th May 2026
119 + buyer’s premium of 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl VAT) Introduced in 2007, the Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series represented the most focused road car yet to emerge from AMG’s Performance Studio, developed at a time when Affalterbach was beginning to establish its own identity beyond simply building faster versions of standard Mercedes models. Inspired in part by the marque’s Formula 1 Safety Car programme, the Black Series transformed the already formidable CLK63 into a far more serious machine, pairing motorsport influenced chassis development with one of the most celebrated naturally-aspirated engines of the modern era. At its heart sits AMG’s hand built M156 V8, the first engine developed entirely in-house by AMG. Displacing 6.2-litres and producing 507bhp with 465lb/ft of torque, the Black Series delivered performance that rivalled supercars, accelerating from 0 to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds and continuing to an electronically limited 186mph. Power is delivered through AMG’s Speedshift 7-speed transmission, while a wider track, revised suspension geometry, adjustable dampers and a mechanical limited-slip differential gave the Black Series a far more aggressive character than the standard CLK63 from which it was derived. Visually, the transformation was equally dramatic. Wider front and rear arches, deeper bumpers, additional cooling vents and a carbon fibre rear spoiler gave the car a far more purposeful stance, while the cabin was reworked with carbon fibre trim, deeply bolstered AMG bucket seats and a more focused driver environment. Although unmistakably a Mercedes-Benz, the Black Series remains one of the most distinctive and muscular road cars ever to wear the badge. Just 700 examples were produced worldwide, with only 25 delivered in right-hand drive for the UK market. Finished in Obsidian Black over the correct Black AMG interior, this example was first delivered in 2008 and has covered only 9,088 miles from new. The mileage is fully supported by its MOT history, having passed every test without a single advisory recorded. Known previously through respected specialists DK Engineering having sold the car in 2012, 2018 and 2023, it has remained carefully preserved and is accompanied by its original leather-bound Mercedes-Benz book pack, including the model specific operating manual and associated factory literature. Most recently, it benefitted from an oil service and comprehensive vehicle health check by Startech in January 2025, less than 400 miles ago, which it passed with excellent results. As the market continues to recognise the significance of AMG’s analogue era performance cars, the CLK63 AMG Black Series has become one of the most sought-after modern Mercedes-Benz models. Combining rarity, understated aggression and one of the greatest naturally aspirated V8 engines of its generation, this ultra low-mileage example represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire not only one of the very best-preserved UK-supplied cars, but surely one of the best preserved CLK Black Series in existence. It is a car that simply cannot be repeated, and similar cars will unfortunately never be produced again. The last word should really come from Jeremy Clarkson, a former owner of a CLK63 Black Series - “For sheer excitement, the CLK Black is a match for absolutely anything. Since my test car went back to Mercedes, I have been thinking about it a lot. Because I’m not sure that anyone’s life is quite complete unless they have one”. DataMB confirms the factory specification of the car, which can be viewed on our website. One of only 25 UK, right-hand drive supplied examples, this delightfully wild Black Series has covered just 9,088 miles from new and remains one of the finest surviving examples.
