THE ICONIC & CLASSIC SALE AT SUPERCAR FEST 16th May 2026
111 + buyer’s premium of 12.5% plus VAT (15% incl VAT) The Mercedes-Benz W126 SEC, when enhanced by AMG, represented the pinnacle of late-1980s luxury and performance. Prior to AMG’s full integration with Mercedes-Benz, such cars were individually specified and modified, resulting in a wide variety of highly distinctive and now increasingly collectible examples. This W126 560 SEC was built in early January 1989, supplied new to Hong Kong on 25th January and first registered there on 14th February 1989. It is finished in Blue-Black Metallic (199U) over a classic black leather interior and is described as a fully dechromed example, a style often associated with AMG’s more purposeful aesthetic of the period. It was optioned from new with a Becker radio cassette, automatic climate control, tropical battery, factory fire extinguisher and notably a limited-slip differential. The car is also fitted with a full ‘Wide-Body’ kit which we understand to be supplied by AMG but cannot confirm, so interested parties will need to form their own opinion. Further distinguishing features include electric Recaro front seats, Penta five-spoke alloy wheels, widened wheel arches and quarter panels, and a subtle rear boot spoiler, all contributing to the unmistakable ‘Wide-Body’ appearance that defines these cars. When powered by the standard 5,547cc M117 E56 V8, output was approximately 300bhp, enabling 0–60mph in around 6.8 seconds and a top speed of circa 150mph. Indicating 137,616km (85,511 miles) at the time of cataloguing, the car was first registered in the UK on 19th August 2003 and has had six former registered keepers since. It’s accompanied by a detailed history file which includes a Mercedes-Benz distributor Zung Fu Co. Ltd. service intake record along with a collection of service records and invoices from Zung Fu Hong Kong, made out to Caribe’s Investments Ltd. up till 2001 documenting its early life, whilst its time in the UK is supported by a stamped service book, further invoices, previous MOT Certificates and a current MOT valid until August 2026. More recently forming part of a private Collection since 2020, the car is described as having been used sparingly during this period and now presents an opportunity to acquire a distinctive example of an increasingly sought-after variant. ‘Wide-Body’ SECs remain among the most visually impactful and desirable modified Mercedes-Benz models of the era. Combining presence, performance and period individuality, this example is likely to appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike. We encourage your inspection at our Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026. Unquestionably one of the most iconic and recognisable German cars of its era, the modified W126 offered unparalleled luxury, performance and reliability wrapped up in a visually stunning package.
