60 The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025 Motorcycles • The ‘Sixteener Special’ first appeared in the UK in the autumn of 1972 as a 1973 model, gaining a set of bicycle pedals to meet UK moped legislation, the forerunner to the FS-1E • The 49cc motor produced 4.9bhp and was good for around 45mph flat out •A genuine UK example supplied on 21/08/1973, was used until 1986 when taken off the road. Discovered in 2009 in a complete but rather poor state cosmetically. Fully restored and remains in lovely condition • The history file contains a purchase receipt in 1976, pictures as discovered in 2009, various expired MOTs and Tax Discs, original Yamaha price list and a UK V5C • Purchased by our vendor for his private Collection in 2010, the SS has not been used since and will need some recommissioning prior to seeing active use A very rare, UK-supplied pre FS-1E - the SS ‘Sixteener Special’.
