288 The Classic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025 Cars Lot 713 1964 Sunbeam Alpine Series III •Produced between March 1963 until January 1964, the Series III was a transitional model and not many right-hand drive examples of the 5,863 cars built have survived •This example is understood to have been shipped to South Africa in 1964 as a CKD, right-hand drive export with SA and Series III stamped chassis numbers •The history file evidences the UK-sourcing of parts for its 2017 restoration in its native South Africa. Subsequently imported and registered with the DVLA by our vendor on 05/07/2020 •It remains really well presented in gleaming Carnival Red with a black hardtop and chrome wire wheels •Our vendor has always had a soft spot for the Sunbeam Alpine, a passion ignited by his first car, a Sunbeam Alpine! •Stored in a de-humidified facility, the odometer reading of 59,721km, or 37,100 miles, has appropriate ageing to the digits and other instruments •The Sunbeam Alpine is often regarded as the first ‘Bond’ car with Sean Connery behind the wheel in his debut as 007 in Dr.No •Keenly estimated, we welcome close inspection of this handsome and well restored car An older restoration, this rare Series III lives in de-humidified storage and continues to present really well. H Taylor & Co. of Kingston-Upon-Thames to order this Sports Tourer for £985 •Mr Allen specified Moonstone paintwork and a non-standard Azure Blue upholstery, overdrive, road speed tyres, wire wheels and a laminated windscreen •A hardtop was ordered, at a cost of £65, and additionally a heater and demister, reversing lamps and thermatic engine fan •Mr Allen kept the car for 30 years. The second owner, commissioned preparatory bodywork rectification in 2002 and the detailed schedule of works carried out is extensive •However, the final painting stages were not completed and the car left Mr Rawlinson’s 24 year ownership when it joined our vendor’s extensive Collection in 2019 •As a running and driving rolling cosmetic project in its original colour combination, it simply awaits its coat of paint and some light recommissioning The superb history file starts with the original confirmation letter from the first owner of over 30 years and goes on!
