All vehicles were well maintained by their previous owner before being acquired by our vendor, who is now reluctantly selling due to underestimating the time and weekend commitments required by the business •Built by Karmann in Osnabrück, the convertible version of the Beetle was known for its high quality build and attention to detail •The 1978 model was part of the last production run of Beetle convertibles, as the saloon version was phased out in Europe and the US •Powered by the 1,600cc Type 126 four-cylinder, air-cooled boxer engine offering about 50bhp when new •Finished in Alpine White over a beige interior with matching hood, and sitting on whitewall tyres •Supplied with previous MOTs and hand-written notes covering recent maintenance Tidy last generation soft top Beetle showing just over 22,000 miles from new. Improvements to the engine included a revised camshaft, valve springs and twin SU HD8 carburettors together with a redesigned exhaust system and servo-assisted brakes •Finished in Colorado Red over a black leather interior with matching black hood and sits on chrome wire wheels •In current ownership since 2006, it was subject to a full ground up restoration by Graham Goodall in early 2000s •Supplied with its BMIT Certificate, original ‘buff’ logbook and invoices including a clutch slave and master cylinder replacement in April 2025 •In very good condition all round, this rare Phase 1 would make an ideal introduction into the friendly world of the ‘Big Healey’ An older restoration, this very well presented, early Phase 2 BJ8 in Colorado Red is on offer from long term ownership.
