After this, the Dodge was transported on the Queen Mary to Southampton and probably had to also keep it in the UK for a period before selling it without import duties •Subsequently sold to its first UK owner in Torquay through Sansom’s Central Garage in Paignton, Devon, for the then considerable sum of £600 • In 2006, ongoing maintenance suggested that more in-depth works were required, with the decision made that a comprehensive restoration should begin with Barry Hodson Motorsport being commissioned to complete the rebuild without concern to cost •Over the following few years the Dodge body was fully rebuilt, replacement panels manufactured and the engine totally overhauled including a ground and balanced crank together with the rods and pistons alongside a stripped and checked gearbox to ensure that all was as it should be.
