The client’s brief was a little unusual as he wanted a car that was not only competitive but also finished to the very highest of standards with total attention to detail throughout, meaning that the Porsche could not only hold its own on a circuit but also on the show field if required. Competing within the AMOC Intermarque Championship, the 968 was a front-runner from the off, enjoying much success, due no doubt to not only the experienced driver but also the comprehensive specification which included an acid-dipped and lightened shell, composite wings, bonnet, bumpers and doors, a full FIA T45 roll cage and P4P windows all superbly finished in Porsche, paint-to-sample, Blood Orange. A new 3-litre power unit was sourced and rebuilt with JE pistons and rings, Carillo Rods, a machined and balanced crank and a machined and gas-flowed cylinder head with 5-angle valve seats. Further work included a modified airbox for increased cool air flow, a stripped and modified wiring loom and engine-mapping by the knowledgeable Wayne Schofield. As you would expect, the transmission, suspension and braking system have also received quite serious investment - a full specification for which is available upon request. The Porsche was recently purchased back from his client by our vendor, the car’s original builder, for his own use and thoroughly gone through with the sort of care you would expect from the car’s creator. We understand that it has only had 20-25 minutes of running time since. Business and family commitments, however, mean that his idea of fun is not going to materialise and, reluctantly, the car has to go. The 968 is currently road-registered and may be eligible for a number of Road Sports championships but would certainly be effective in sprints and hill-climbs and would make a great track day car. It’s a long time since we saw a ‘club racer’ prepared and presented to this standard and we invite and encourage your close inspection at our Race Retro Sale. Superb 968 Comp/Fast Road car prepared and presented with amazing attention to detail, equally at home on the circuit or the concours field. More Details Lot 744 Bid On Lot 744
